When choosing diapers for your little one, I don't have to tell you there are so many options! Even in the five years since my middle child was born to my newest addition, lots of new brands have popped up on the market, many of them touting cleaner ingredients and "free from" lists. Every parent wants what is best for their little one. We all try to make choices that will be the healthiest for our precious babes. To me, that means reducing exposure to potentially harmful chemicals as much as possible - including chemicals that could be lurking in disposable diapers.
Common Chemicals in Disposable Diapers
Though convenient, many conventional disposable diapers contain ingredients that I don't want on my child's skin all day every day. These include chemicals like elemental chlorine used to bleach diapers or it's byproducts; volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, and dipentene; phthalates; PFAS, also known as "forever chemicals"; artificial fragrance; lotions and dyes.
Altogether, these chemicals can cause skin irritation and rashes at best, and longer term health problems at the worst. Some of these chemicals have been linked to asthma, hormone disruption, respiratory issues, and immune system impairment. Pregnant women and babies can be some of the most sensitive to the effects of harmful ingredients.
With the average baby going through up to 4,000 diapers per year, I want the most nontoxic option possible for something that will sit so close to my little one's skin. While cloth diapers can be a great solution for some, they aren't always convenient or practical for every family. That's why a solid nontoxic disposable diaper is important.

My Favorite Nontoxic Disposable Diapers
I've tried several nontoxic disposable diapers, and even use cloth diapers when practical. Of all the disposable diapers I've tried, one brand stands out the most - EveryLife!
