Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large pear
  • 1 tsp oil, such as coconut or avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Peel, core and slice pears into ½-inch slices.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium low heat.
  3. Add pears and stir to coat. Add cinnamon and water and stir to combine.
  4. Cover and cook, stirring every once in a while, until pears are softened, about 10-15 minutes. Add a splash of water as needed to prevent sticking.

Notes

  • To check if pears are ripe and ready to use, gently press on the neck. If it yields slightly to pressure, it is ripe.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container.
  • Once cooked, pears can be pureed in a blender or food processor with a little water as needed, or passed through a wire strainer or food mill for spoon feeding.
