If your little one is stopped up, you can help "move it along" naturally with this yummy recipe of prune yogurt with optional chia seeds and cinnamon. This makes a great breakfast or snack for both babies and toddlers with constipation, or as a nutritious preventative. (gluten-free)

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp prune puree
  • Optional mix-ins (choose one or more to taste): cinnamon, cardamom, orange zest, pear puree, peanut butter powder

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix chia seeds with 2-3 tsp of water and soak for about 5 minutes to form a gel. If you're in a hurry, you can skip this step if you'd like.
  2. Mix soaked chia seeds, yogurt and prune puree in a bowl. Stir in any mix-ins or flavorings, if using.

Notes

  • Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days. I love small glass baby blocks for individual portions.
  • Option mix-ins: Cinnamon, cardamom and orange zest will be just for flavor, while pear puree also helps to relieve constipation and peanut powder is good for allergen exposure and also helps thicken the mixture if it is too thin.
