This pea avocado mash for babies is super nutritious and so easy to make! Great for both spoon fed babies and baby led weaning, it is high in protein and healthy fat, making in great to add to baby's meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp frozen green peas
  • 1/4 small avocado
  • lemon wedge
  • 2 small mint leaves, very finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook peas according to preference. I typically cover with water in a microwave-safe dish and microwave for 1 minute. Drain and let cool completely.
  2. In a small bowl, mash the peas and avocado together with a fork.
  3. Add a squeeze of lemon and mint, if using, and mix to combine.

Notes

  • For a puree instead of mash: Blend everything in a food processor instead of mashing with a fork. You may need to add a little water to get it smooth.
  • Storage: Because the avocado will brown, this does not store well. It will not be unsafe to eat after storing in the refrigerator for a couple of days, but it will turn brown.
  • To Serve Baby Led Weaning Style: Serve on a preloaded soft spoon, in a rimmed plate for scooping with hands, or spread on toast fingers or pancake strips.
  • Flavor Variations: Try lime instead of lemon, or mix up the herbs with finely chopped basil, dill, parsley, or chives.
