No Sugar Peanut Butter Cottage Cheese Dip
If you struggle to get your little one to eat enough protein, this easy peanut butter dip is a great recipe for you! Cottage cheese gets blended with creamy peanut butter (both nutritious, high-protein foods!) and lightly sweetened with dates for the ultimate protein-boosting snack for little ones with no added sugar. I love to serve it as a fruit dip to entice little ones to enjoy snacking on fruit, but it can also be served as a spread for pancakes or on a spoon for younger babies or toddlers.

Ingredients
- Cottage cheese - I use a wetter loose-curd cottage cheese, such as Daisy.
- Natural creamy peanut butter - The runny kind made with just peanuts (and maybe salt).
- Vanilla
- Cinnamon
- Date or prune - Optional, for a hint of sweetness without added sugar. If your date is dry, soak it in hot water for about 10 minutes first. You can totally leave it out, too!
Helpful Equipment: You'll need a food processor (I like a mini one for smaller recipes like this.)

My Favorite Food Processor
This mini food processor is one of my most used and most loved kitchen tools! It's a must-have for making recipes like this a breeze!
Step By Step Instructions
For the full printable recipe, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the page.

- Add all of the ingredients to the bowl of a food processor.
- Blend until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides with a spatula as needed.
Tips and Recipe Variations
- As mentioned, if your date is dry, rehydrate it by soaking in hot water for 10 minutes, then drain before using. This will make it easier to blend. The date may not get 100% smooth depending on your food processor, but there shouldn't be large chunks.
- If your little ones are older (2 years +) feel free to swap the date or prune for a little squeeze of honey or maple syrup.
- Allow the peanut butter cottage cheese to hang out in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour to let the flavors blend if you have the time.
- Store cottage cheese dip in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days. I don't recommend freezing it as the texture will get weepy and soggy when it's thawed.

How To Serve Peanut Butter Cottage Cheese To Babies 6 Months and Up
For baby led weaning babies who do not yet have a pincer grasp, your best options for serving this dip are either preloaded on a soft spoon, or spread thinly onto another BLW-friendly food, such as pancake strips, lightly toasted bread fingers, or a banana. At this age, I wouldn't serve too much at one time, since cottage cheese is higher in sodium.
Once baby has a pincer grasp and is practicing with utensils, you can offer some on a plate with a spoon or other baby-friendly food for dipping and let baby practice scooping and dipping. Make sure not to offer crunchy foods or other choking hazards for dipping until your little one is well past the toddler stage and can handle these foods.
