Roasted Peaches for Baby
There is nothing better than a fresh, juicy peach in the peak of summer. If you're wondering, you can absolutely share fresh peaches with baby as long as they are soft. But maybe your peaches aren't quite sweet enough, or you want to soften them up just a bit. These roasted peaches are the perfect solution, and they couldn't be easier to make! Roasting peach slices with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg - no added sugar - makes them soft, juicy, and perfect for baby led weaning babies. But don't save them all of baby - as parents, we love to put these on our morning oatmeal or even ice cream for dessert!

Ingredients
- Peaches: You want ripe, fragrant peaches. This is a great use for fruit that may be a little bit bruised. 'Freestone' peaches will be much easier to remove the pit than 'Clingstone'.
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
Helpful Equipment: Sharp knife, baking dish, parchment paper
Step By Step Instructions
For the full printable recipe, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the page.
- Wash and slice the peaches. Cut each peach in half, removing the pit. Then slice each half into 4 slices.
- Toss the peaches with cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Arrange the peaches in a baking dish lined with parchment.
- Bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, or until peaches are soft and juicy.
Tips and Recipe Variations
- As long as you're using parchment, there is no need to add any oil to prevent sticking. It will also make cleanup much easier!
- If you want to save a bowl, sprinkle the peaches with spices directly in the baking dish.
- Nectarines work in place of peaches.
- Play around with the spices to suit your tastes. Ginger or cloves would also be tasty.
- If you want really soft, squishy peaches you can leave them in the oven longer.
- Feel free to peel and puree the peaches for spoon fed babies.
- If you're making these for older kids or adults, feel free to add a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of brown sugar before baking to encourage caramelization and add a touch more sweetness.
Storage and Reheating
Store roasted peaches in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Reheat in the microwave in a microwave-safe dish for 15-30 seconds, or reheat gently on the stove or in the oven at 350°F until warmed through.
How To Serve To Babies 6 Months and Up
For baby led weaning babies 6 months and up with a palmar grasp, serve whole slices. These will be easier for baby to grasp and bring to his mouth. Once baby develops a pincer grasp, using index finger and thumb to pick up small objects (around 9 months), you can cut peaches into small bite size pieces about the size of your fingernail.
