Baby Blueberry Overnight Oats
Overnight oats make the perfect breakfast for both busy mamas and babies. I love that they can be made the night before and simply taken out of the refrigerator in the morning for a quick and nutritious breakfast that requires no cooking. They are also more nutrient dense than regular oatmeal because they are made with high protein milk and Greek yogurt instead of water.
These blueberry overnight oats for baby (and mom!) pack an extra punch in the nutrition and flavor departments thanks to frozen wild blueberries, which are high in antioxidants and fiber, and provide a natural sweetness without any added sugar. You can whip up a double batch so that you can have a serving for yourself, or so that you have breakfast all week for your little one!

Ingredients
- Rolled oats, also called old fashioned oats. The texture of rolled oats is best for overnight oats. Look for certified gluten-free if necessary.
- Milk - I use regular whole milk. You can also use extra breastmilk if you have it, or your favorite non-dairy alternative if baby is dairy-free. (Yes, babies can have milk.)
- Plain Greek yogurt - makes overnight oats nice and thick and adds a good bit of protein.
- Frozen blueberries - I prefer the size and flavor of frozen wild blueberries, but regular ones are fine, too.
- Lemon zest and juice OR vanilla extract - Choose one or the other for a little more flavor. I like the lemon best.
- Optional extras: ground flaxseed or chia seeds for more nutrients and/or almond extract for extra flavor.
Equipment: pint sized (2 cup) glass jar or other container with a lid, food processor or blender (if you're blending the oats)

My Favorite Food Processor

Regular Version For Baby Led Weaning

- Stir all of the ingredients together in a pint sized mason jar or other container with a lid.
- Refrigerate overnight. In the morning, give it a stir, adding a little more milk as needed to thin to the consistency you want. Remember thick is good for baby led weaning!
Blended Version For Spoon Feeding

- In a food processor or blender, blend all ingredients together until smooth.
- Place in a pint sized jar with a lid or other container, or divide into individually portioned containers (I love these glass baby blocks!) and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, give it a stir and add more milk to thin as needed.

Tips and Recipe Variations
- Gluten-free: Make sure your oats are certified gluten-free.
- Dairy-free: Use your favorite non-dairy milk and yogurt (make sure they're unsweetened).
- Swap the fruit: Swap the blueberries for other favorite frozen fruit, such as raspberries, blackberries, or peaches. Just make sure the pieces are small - you may want to thaw and mash the fruit before mixing up the oats.
- Flavoring: I like lemon juice and zest with the blueberries best, but feel free to use what you like, such as vanilla extract or almond extract!
- Sweeten it up: For moms and older kiddos who need a little more sweetness, feel free to sweeten the recipe a bit by adding up to a tablespoon of honey or maple syrup. You can also just drizzle a bit on your portion when serving.
- Storage: Overnight oats will keep in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to 4 days. I don't recommend freezing them.

How To Serve Overnight Oats To Babies 6 Months and Up
For baby led weaning babies, place overnight oats in a rimmed plate or bowl and let baby dig in with hands or play with utensils. Yes, it will get a bit messy! (Read my tips for minimizing the mess here!) The thicker the oat mixture the better, since it will be easier for baby to get to his mouth.
For spoon fed babies, thin the oat mixture to baby's texture level and feed as normal. I recommend practicing responsive feeding, honoring baby's hunger and fullness cues!
